NZXT Whisper - Full Steel Silent Tower Review

Conclusions

One thing here is for sure.  NZXT did appropriately name this new case and its features and high attention to detail regarding the elimination of all unwanted noise step beyond most.

Whisper Quiet

Hence its name, this case does indeed take every measure to eliminate unwanted noise.  From its dampening foam, low noise fans and unique vibration dampening features for most key components, they certainly do aid in maintaining noise levels at the bare minimum.   For those who want to take it a step further, this tower is built to support many water-cooling options, both internal and external.

Impressive Storage Capacity

I've seen countless full tower enclosures over the years and in comparison to even some high-end options, the Whisper is in a class of its own.  With an impressive seven external bays and a whopping nine internal drive bays, this is clearly built for storage lovers and those looking for a server case with maximum expandability.

Cleverly Designed

The Whisper is quite cleverly designed on many levels.  It offers plenty of room to work comfortably and supports a high number of components, including extended ATX motherboards.  Its unique, inverted design allows for minimal cable clutter and its removal drive bays and locking mechanisms provide easy replacement of any storage component that may fail.  This includes some tool-less features that provide the ability to easily move drives around for better heat dissipation.  Also, keep in mind that the front I/O panel actually has an eSATA connector, supporting a fast and convenient external connection.

Final Thoughts

The new NZXT Whisper is built like a modern server case should be.  With its excellent storage features, high component support, unique noise dampening and truly whisper-quiet operation, there are few cases in its class that are built to please as well as the Whisper.  On top of that, it was apparent that this enclosure was built for the budget minded.  While there are clearly some minor quality issues, this tower is modestly priced for what it has to offer.  If you're a smart shopper, you can actually pick up this beast for as little as $100.  At this price point, its features and excellent design does manage to earn our recommendation.
