Raidmax Virgo 811 Mid Tower Gaming Case Review

Installation & Testing

Test System -

• Abit NF7-S Motherboard
• AMD Athlon XP 2500+ Barton
• Corsair PC2700 DDR RAM
• Asus Ti4200 Geforce4 Graphics Card
• Western Digital 120gig 7200rpm Hard Drive

As usual, we ran the system for an hour to get an idle temperature. Then I loaded the processor with Prime 95 for another hour, and took a second temperature reading. Both measurements were conducted with an ambient temperature of 25°C +/- .5°C. One thing I did notice during the installation is that I like the open nature of the inside of this case. The only solid panel is where the Motherboard sits, leaving the rest open to pass through cables or to allow easy access to components.

This is one of the reasons I like to measure temperatures inside the case…on occasion you run into a problem. Clearly, this case will need the optional 120mm Fan installed in the front intake to stay cool. This will directly effect how well your air-cooled heatsinks function. I’m also convinced that the strange grille on the back doesn’t help much either. This will be checked out in the future; I have another case review pending that has the same style of exhaust.

I tested the alarm system as well, and it works exactly as advertised. The two tone alarm is not overly loud, but it will get your attention.
