Extreme Guide to Video Capture & Editing - Continued

Ulead MediaStudio Pro 7

Ulead's Mediastudio Pro 7 is their latest high end video editing software suite.  It will be the only high end (expensive) video suite we will be looking at in this guide.  Although the software will set you back a whopping $495 US, I decided to include it because it is an excellent program allowing you to do everything from capture to DVD/CD authoring and includes great transitions that can be added to your videos to make them look great and professional.  Their capture application is quite easy to use.

The first thing we will do is take a look at the video capture property settings to select the desired video source & format.  This is accessed from the setup menu or by clicking the 5th icon on the toolbar.  From here you can select your video source, format, quality and channel if your recording from a TV tuner.  Similar to ATI's MMC, you can capture video is just about any format including VCD, SVCD, DVD or select a custom format.

Next, we will select the audio format which is also accessible from the setup menu.

Again, PCM 44100/16bit/Stereo is a good choice.

We are now ready to capture video!  Click on the record button.  The menu above should come up.  From here, you can select the capture duration as well as select the location of captured files.

Capturing video with Ulead's Mediastudio Pro 7 is as easy as with ATI's MMC software.   However, it does not have all the fancy features such as scheduling or channel surf.

This concludes the video capture portion of this guide.  We will now show you how to edit those captured files.
