Conclusions

Let's see...how do I best describe this
product? Well, for those who have had the pleasure of attending CES,
there is always this large exhibit you can visit where you'll find a large
number of re-branded and "knock-off" products resembling some of
the most popular on the market. This digital media player
happens to be one that will fit in here quite well. There is no doubt
that this product is one that did not take much creativity or effort to
design. In fact, the company boldly exceeded these boundaries to mask
what is only an average media player with the look and design of what
remains the most popular on the market. While I'm no Apple fan, this
alone is something I'm not fond of nor do I find it acceptable.
However, that doesn't mean its not loaded with features. In fact, it
offers just about all, including one typically not found in such a product
to date. For this, you have to give them some credit.
You have an FM radio, recording
capabilities, a text file viewer, and expansion capabilities...four simple
features that apparently many companies still fail to offer. However,
not all actually work though. This player claims to support lyrics via
a service that does not even exist to begin with. This is bad and not
something many will be happy about. Also, I'm not even mentioning the
games feature because this is completely useless after testing the only game
loaded on the player.
As far as navigation and ease of use goes,
this player will disappoint. Not only does it fail to support ID3
tags, but navigating can be frustrating at times. Also, there was no
way to at least set an auto-scroll feature, making it easier to identify
files you would like to play. Finally, its interface can really annoy
you at times and is truly poorly- designed. Buttons for certain functions
that should work don't and activating some of them may require more than one
tap on the screen to get to them.
In terms of performance, this player had its
share of issues as expected. It tends to hesitate at times when
accessing
certain menus and struggles heavily with pictures. Also, there were
some slight issues with FM recordings as well and there was also static when
moving around too much. Despite all these flaws
though, there are a couple of things to like. One of them is the
screen. It shocked me actually and does have vivid colors with no
issues related to viewing angles. Second is its video
playback performance. Despite the fact that it struggles with all
other media, it plays videos extremely well and all look great on its
somewhat impressive screen.
The Super Talent is obviously no competition
to many other respected companies that produce quality products.
However, not all can afford such products and that's where this player has
the advantage. Knock off? Yes. But it manages to have many
other useful features that the product it tried to imitate still can't seem
to offer. It is basically a full-featured digital media player
that is highly affordable and one that will appeal to those looking the best
bang for the buck.
