Super Talent VIDEGO28 Touch Screen Digital Media Player Review

Model:  VIDEGO28 MP4_BK

Manufacturer:  Super Talent

The latest trend found in both cell phones and digital media players are touch screens.  Companies are now designing such products this way in order to not only entice many with a product that is essentially out of the norm, but also to make navigation of such devices much more pleasant.  One such company to join this competitive market is Super Talent.  Primarily known for their desktop memory modules and flash media, they also happen to be one of the first to offer a flash-based digital media player with a large 2.8" touch screen display.  But that's not all it has to offer.  Their new VIDEGO28 is loaded with many features that a digital media player should offer.  This includes MPEG-4 video playback, built-in FM tuner, recording capabilities and even memory expansion via flash cards.

The player comes in a magnetic flip-style box but like most Super Talent products, not much emphasis is put into its packaging.  It is as plain as can be with not much info on the product itself.  However, plenty is included along with it though.  This includes a wall charger, USB cable, earbuds, "Velvet" pouch, software mini CD, user manual and even a funky colored cleaning cloth and a stylus.

Design

Its design is actually something that will have people wondering how they managed to release the product without getting into trouble in the first place.  Certainly no credit can be given for being unique.

Yes, that's right.  It looks very similar to the new iPod Touch and even the iPhone.  However, upon first glance, it just doesn't "look" like a quality product and one that obviously didn't cost much at all to build.  That's the best way I can put it I guess.  Moving on, the front sports a large 2.8" touch LCD that is accented with a black rubber-like frame.  No, it is not plastic.  The top is where you'll find the speaker/mic and the bottom features the only three control buttons.  The back housing is plastic and all black in color.  No pics of the sides because there are no buttons/controls or jacks on either.

On the top is where you'll find the power switch, headphone jack and oddly placed, the USB connector.  The bottom is where you'll find a memory expansion slot...a rare but welcomed feature typically not found in flash-based players.
