Asetek VapoChill Micro Extreme CPU Cooler

Conclusions

The Asetek VapoChill Micro is a fairly decent first attempt by the company at targeting the majority of users on a budget.   While I did not find its performance impressive by any means, credit should be given for its overall design and ease of installation.  I would like to make it very clear that while this product does carry the same name, it should definitely not be confused with their other high-end products that are actually capable of providing subzero temperatures.  However, this extreme and innovative method of cooling is not for the poor, and is why Asetek decided to target the rest of us with the VapoChill Micro.  Other than its ability to quickly cool down the processor after load, there were honestly no other areas where it did impress or yet alone compete well with a majority of other high performance coolers on the market.  One thing I did not like was the fact the the copper base just barely covered the whole surface area of a P4 processor.  While making the base bigger would probably provide much better cooling performance, it would also keep it from being so easy to install, which happens to be the main area of focus with this product.  For overclockers, I would highly recommend you avoid the model with the Ultra-Low Noise fan.  This is simply for those who do not overclock and are mainly concerned with noise levels.  Slapping on the Extreme and High Performance fans did yield better results, but not without compromising noise levels.  Both fans where quite noisy.   Bottom line, if you're not a hardcore overclocker and would like some decent cooling that is at least marginally better than what you will achieve with a stock cooler, the Vapochill Micro will certainly fit the bill.

More information on the VapoChill Micro can be found on the Asetek Website.
