The Fit

So how can we best describe how well the Zen fits in this case?   With three simple words...Like a glove!   You can see the right and left cutouts align perfectly and provide full access to all buttons.  The top section is only partially covered to give you access to the headphone jack.   Both the top left and top right side are also exposed to give you access to the reset button and DC power jack.   Those with a Zen NX are probably wondering if that particular model will give you access to the reset switch since it is located on the bottom left of the unit.   Well,  I did have the pleasure of previewing a Zen NX case as well and you'll be happy to know that they have provided a hole for the reset button.

The screen section lines up perfectly.  As we mentioned previously, it is covered with a crystal clear plastic to ensure that it is unobtrusive and that the screen itself is completely legible.  It is questionable, however, just how durable this plastic piece is.  It seems as though it would scratch quite easily.  Regardless, I'd rather have a few scratches on this protective covering than dust particles inside the screen!   A nice touch indeed.  By the looks of it, you can easily cut out this plastic piece if it eventually does get scratched up to the point where it is bothersome.   Not recommended, but nice to know the option is there.

Conclusion

I think it's safe to say that the wait is over!  This is definitely a suitable case for all Nomad Jukebox Zen and Zen NX owners.  The quality and craftsmanship is unmatched and its design and function is truly innovative.  You have full access to all functions, yet manages to offer maximum protection.  Its small footprint will please many and the clear layer will prevent dust buildup inside the screen.  The optional "Ultra Clip" is quite practical.  It is designed so that it cannot be accidentally dismounted, yet you can effortlessly remove the device with a simple twist and press of a button.  As with all their products, you have many custom colors and options to choose from and they can even be personalized, which will make great gifts.  Now all this quality comes at a price.  Luckily, VAJA has various models to choose from including a low cost option.  They range between $35 and $55.
