Here at ExtremeMHz, we tend to focus on
highly unique products and the one I'll be showing you today certainly does
fit the bill. It is a product I found that will actually prove quite
useful among a variety of PC Enthusiasts, Gamers and overclockers looking
for a reliable and quick way of measuring the temperature of your systems
and components within. Q3 Innovations, co-founded in 1999, introduced
this one-of-a-kind product earlier this year at CES. The ThermoHAWK
series products are pen-sized touch-less thermometers that allow you to
quickly and easily check the surface temperature of just about any object.
Q3i sent over one of the three models in this series, the ThermoHAWK 200.

Nothing spectacular about its design and it's
what's inside that impresses. There is a removable cap that reveals
the IR sensor and a standard button for temp reading. There is a also
a pinhole that will allow you to display temperature in either ºC or ºF.
It comes with a keychain attachment as well for those who will find it
useful enough to carry around. This particular model is capable of
monitoring temperatures as high as 230ºF. They also have two other
models that are capable of up to 428ºF, one of which includes a handy
flashlight. For computer use, this particular model will suffice and
is why they have chose to send it over.
Touch-less thermometer?
Before we begin testing, most may be intrigued
by the fact that it is a touch-less thermometer capable of providing instant
results. With that said, I'll briefly provide some additional
information on the technology behind it.
The ThermoHAWK is basically a non-contact
infrared thermometer designed to instantly measure the surface temperature
of just about any object with the touch of a button. The ThermoHAWK
units contain a patent-pending thermopile sensor on a chip technology which
provides unique advantages over the older pyrometer infrared sensors.
This allows the unit to be incredibly compact and do not need calibration.
Most importantly, the ThermoHAWK’s unique metal cylinder design is also able
to prevent electromagnetic and electrostatic interferences during
temperature measurement and eliminates the effect of ambient temperature
changes to produce accurate temperature values. This makes it an
excellent product for measuring temps on computer systems and/or components.
