Performance
Although my main focus was to introduce you to the board's impressive, one of
a kind multi-media features, we will still provide benchmark results as we do
with all our reviews. But first, let's take a quick look at our test
system...

CPU
Arithmetic Benchmark:

Results
Dhrystone = 6077
Whetstone = 1772/3257
Results were actually quite impressive when compared to other motherboards in
its class. Results were slightly higher than the comparable 2.4GHz
reference system.
CPU
Mult-Media Benchmark:

Results
Integer iSSE2 = 14622
Float iSSE2 = 18060
Memory Bandwidth Benchmark:

Results
Int Buffered = 1673
Float Buffered = 1671
PCMark Tests
We will use PC Mark 2002 to measure its overall
performance.

CPU/Memory scores were 5819/4844. As with
all the tests, we used a 512MB stick of Corsair XMS3200.
In addition to these benchmarks, I would like to
provide a PC Mark comparison against a very popular motherboard that many have
considered as an option for a home entertainment PC, the MSI KM2M Combo-L.
This board has been one of the most popular reviews here at ExtremeMHz and a
majority have an eye on this board for this type of use. The MSI is an Athlon motherboard but both include integrated graphics via the
ProSavage8 controller and both support DDR 200/266. They both sport the
VIA 8235 chipset as well. Comparisons were made using the same
memory.

I threw in the MSI KM2M Combo-L into the mix to
provide a decent comparison to those who are not sure whether to go with an Athlon or Intel motherboard for their home entertainment PC. Clearly,
Intel is the way to go as the Soyo P4VAL outperforms the KM2M by a
substantial margin. The Soyo P4VAL will have an MSRP of around $69
(without TV tuner), which is only about $13 more than the KM2M motherboard.
It will obviously offer you much more in terms of features and
performance and therefore, it's simply a better buy.
