Before we begin with the extensive testing, let's take a quick look at our

For
our tests, we used Nero 6 CD-DVD Speed Version 2.20.

Transfer speeds on our pressed CD were very
good. It came just slightly shy of its rated maximum read speed of 40X.
Seek times and CPU usage were slightly higher than our Optorite DD0203.
2. CD-DVD Speed - CDR

The results on a CDR were fairly the same.
The start speed was slightly higher and it came slightly shy of it rated max
read speed once again. The seek times, however, were higher while the
CPU usage was lower.
3. CD-DVD Speed - CDRW

Results on a CDRW were quite different.
The transfer rates were much lower and seek times were higher as expected.
I've found that CDRW disc don't do too well on these tests so it is not really
the drive that is at fault.
4. DAE - Advanced Quality Tests

The Lite-On SOHW-832s did exceptionally well in
our advanced DAE quality tests. It passed all tests with flying colors
and is the first drive I've have tested that has performed flawlessly in these
tests. Very impressive.
