CD Write Tests
1. CD-DVD Speed - CDR Media
The new Lite-ON SOHW-1213s doubles as one very
fast CD writer. It is capable of burning to CD media at 48x.

In our Nero CD-DVD Speed write tests, the
drive had no problem hitting its rated top speed. In fact, it came in
slightly higher at 49x.

One thing I particularly like about Lite-ON
drives, is the excellent CDR compatibility. It wrote to all discs
tested at its maximum 48x, including CDR media rated at 8x. I gathered
up exactly 696MB of data and burned it onto various brands of media.
The table below shows the results, including the time it took to burn to
each.

Excellent results! The Lite-ON
SOHW-1213s is capable of writing 695MB of data in under 3 minutes, making it
an excellent all-around CD writer. The fastest media being the Ritek (Ridata)
brand, which is no surprise to me. I have provided a pic of the label
side of the media for those who wish to obtain some of these disc.

2. CD-DVD Speed - CDRW

Using ultra-speed CDRW media, we had no
problem reaching its maximum 24x write speed. The same data gathered
in our CDR tests was burned onto the disc to capture its burn times.

3. 99min CDR's

As with Lite-ON's 8x double layer writer, the
SOHW-1213s had no problem in our over-burning tests and was able to write to
99min CDR media without any issues.
