 Illuminated keyboards
have been a hot item ever since they hit the market not too long ago. Although
they have gone through many convolutions, the essential concept has remained
the same, so today I’ll be looking at a slightly different variation. This
keyboard uses LEDs to illuminate the keys instead of the electroluminescent
sheets we’ve seen so much of previously. This keyboard also features the
“phone alert” feature that we’ve seen on some select products. Not too bad for
30 bucks…or is it? Let’s take a closer look and see!
Packaging &
Contents
The LED keyboard arrived at my doorstep all the
way from Taiwan, and with hardly a scratch. The packaging is rather unique, to
say the least.

The Keyboard itself nearly has a full sized
layout…something we’ve been waiting to see for a long time. The keys
themselves are still laptop style, with a very short throw. This white model
almost looks like it belongs on a Mac, but it is rather sharp looking. The Dax
emblem at the top is a sticker, and if you don’t like it can easily be
removed. The lock LEDs are very obviously green, even without power applied.
The water clear lenses that blue LEDs typically come with would have been a
better match in both lit and unlit states. Right next door is an on/off
switch, definitely a good thing to have.

The bottom is rather plain, with only the four
rubber feet and a battery cover. The battery cover is for a few AAA batteries,
in the event that Sansun decides to market a wireless version of this
keyboard.
