Conclusions

Silverstone's new
RAVEN Series is not only one I'm personally fascinated with, but one that
truly shows the level of thought the company has put into each product in
this series in order to make a clear statement that you can design products
beyond what most consider standard and still manage
to impress a majority.
This new enclosure is quite brilliant in
design. Some my not like its open case-like design, but it is so
simple to install or swap drives this way. Besides, it will eliminate
any heat issues you can face with fully enclosed options. I love its
simplistic design, right down to the magnetic flip top. However, if
there is one negative thing I will say, it is the fact that you must open
the top flap in order to get to the connectors. While custom cutouts
would have been nice, I don't think they would have worked too well, as
there just isn't enough room and will not let the magnets stay in place as well as
they do.
As far as performance goes, this enclosure
will certainly please a majority. I was surprised to find an eSATA port on this
enclosure based on its overall size. The difference in performance is
substantial and is definitely one of its main features. Also important to
note is that Silverstone provides unique Y-cables with their enclosures to
ensure your system provides enough power for it to operate, regardless of
what system you connect it to.
Its
simplistic features, truly tool-less design and excellent performance earns
our recommendation.
