While there are a number of suitable notebook or "pocket" mice on the
market, I have found a majority of them are just not comfortable enough for
extended use or are quite poorly designed. This is why I'm pleased to
give you a brief look at one of the very best designed mice in its class...the PocketMouse Optical Wireless Micro. It is from none other than
Kensington, a leader in mobile computing products and a respected name in
mobile input devices. While they have quite an extensive line of
innovative notebook mice, this particular wireless model is superbly
designed and certainly one to consider. Let's take a brief look...

As
with all their mice, it comes in a blister package which includes the
tiny USB to RF receiver, a thorough user manual, and even some AAA
batteries.
Design
While I'm not too fond of their other notebook mice, this one is very
cleverly designed and there is really nothing to dislike. Let's have a closer look...

It
features an appealing two-tone silver/black design that will match a
majority of modern laptops quite well. One of the major features I
find most appealing is its wide body design. A majority of mini and/or
notebook mice are too small and too narrow, making them uncomfortable for
extended use. The PocketMouse is tiny yet surprisingly comfortable.
It also features a large lighted scroll wheel which functions as a button, something a majority of mice in its class fail to feature. On
the bottom, you'll find four Teflon feet for smooth operation on any
surface. The optical sensor is located in the center and there is an
RF connect button located next to it, which I found was not really needed
during use.

Its
most impressive design feature is certainly the slot located on the rear of
the mouse where the RF receiver is securely stored. A simple touch on
the silver area located under the scroll wheel will not only release the USB
receiver, but also turn the mouse on. Tuck the receiver back in, and
the mouse automatically turns off. This concept works well and will
also keep you from losing the receiver.

A
simple press near the Kensington Logo will release the rear housing for
quick access to the battery compartment. The two AAA batteries keep
the mouse very light and comfortable.
