Logisys Pitbull 500W Power Supply

Installation & Testing

The Pitbull was installed into my overclocked AMD Athlon XP based system, with the specifications as outlined in the table. There were more than enough connectors to go around, and the install was very painless. I did add a rubber power supply gasket, more to protect the finish from the chassis than to dampen noise. The Phantom case that this system is housed in was also a review item from Logisys…that review can be found in the ExtremeMhz review archive. The whole installation probably took about ten minutes at the most, and included the removal of the original power supply.

Testing consisted of measurement of the primary power rails using MBM5 and verifying the accuracy with a volt meter. The load was accomplished with the SANDRA Burn-in Wizard, and the system was left to run for an hour before a second check of the voltages was performed.

The only appreciable sag was on the +12V rail, and even that is well within the usual 5% tolerance. The critical 3.3V and 5V rails that supply voltage to the motherboard and CPU remained steady.
