Super Talent Pico C & Pico E -  Astonishingly Small, Rugged Flash Drives

Conclusions

As long as USB flash drives have been on the market, no manufacturer has been able to put out a truly tiny, high-capacity drive that is rugged enough for everyday carry and peace of mind.  What seems so simple has been a challenge to all...that is until Super Talent finally got it right with the Pico Series drives.  With out a doubt, the Pico C Rugged and Pico E Slide are the smallest most durable drives on the market today.

Design

Finally!  A a tiny, high capacity flash drive that fits on your fingertip and is rugged enough for carry on your keychain without worrying about losing it.  No plastic!  They feature a steel housing and the only way you'll lose one is if you lose your keys.  The Pico-C is my favorite and is now the smallest high capacity flash on the market.  They are all exceptionally designed and incredibly durable as well.

Performance

After previously reviewing their first model in the series,  the only area that failed to impress was its performance.  When it comes to flash drives this small, you usually end up sacrificing performance for size.  However, the two models reviewed here are in a class of their own in terms of speed.  I was pleasantly surprised that Super Talent managed to improve what was really the only downside of owning one of these drives.  In fact, both of these managed to exceed my expectations and when formatted properly, can even exceed their already impressive official specs of 30MB/s.

Note:  Additional testing not featured in this article was done and as I always recommend, drives with a capacity of 4GB or over should be formatted to NTFS for trouble-free file transfers.  This will also tends to improve overall performance and that was the case with these two drives.  For a screenshot of the results for you to compare against those featured here, please visit the forum thread.

Final Thoughts

Both the Pico-C Rugged and Pico-E Slide offer you everything you can wish for in a flash drive without compromise.  In my opinion, it is this that makes them the best option on the market today.  They are the smallest most durable drives out there and don't forget that they are water resistant as well, providing ultimate peace of mind.  They earn our highest recommendation and "Extreme Excellence Award".  Just go buy one...you'll be quite pleased.
