Logisys 20in1 Multi-function Panel

Model:  FP808BK

Manufacturer:  Logisys Computer

Provider:  Logisys Computer

Over the last six months or so, Flash media has started to become very affordable. The same 128Mb flash drive you might have paid fifty bucks for two years ago can now be had for fewer than twenty dollars. This applies to other types of flash media as well, including Compact Flash, Secure Digital, and Media Stick. So, people are much less opposed to springing for that shiny new digital camera or camcorder that utilizes these media types. More than ever, having a card reader available will make keeping all these formats compatible with your PC much easier. With that in mind, we have a brand new card reader from Logisys, boasting compatibility with 20 separate formats.

Packaging & Contents

The packaging is pretty nice, and even has a window. There’s enough useful information on the box too.

Aside from the card reader itself, Logisys has included a large bundle of wires to allow this unit to mesh into most systems. As always, this many wires are almost guaranteed to make your case messy. If you have a window it is something to consider.

This unit is very similar to the Aerocool model we looked at a month or two ago, with the lack of fan control being the biggest difference. The screen is also different in the modes and information it displays…I’ll get into that later in the review.

One major improvement with the Logisys card reader is the addition of a few metal inserts in the otherwise plastic chassis. This helps prevent stripping, which is much more likely on the softer plastic.

The temperature probes are the older thermister type, and not the flat sleeve ones that you usually see nowadays. The probes are removable though, so if you have extras using them with this unit shouldn’t be a problem.
