Installation is quick and easy.  In addition to the Quickcam software, you can install the Logitech Desktop Messenger and Print Service software.

The ORBIT can be used with both Yahoo and MSN Messenger for live video chat sessions.  I personally hate both of these IM clients and will be testing compatibility with the excellent new Trillian Pro 3 messenger as well.

The main application consists of the QuickCapture panel that will allow you to take pictures or record video with your camera.  You also have access to all camera settings and options.

Video settings include brightness, contrast and saturation control.  You can enable color boost and low light filter depending on the lighting conditions when in use.   The audio menu allows you to adjust the recording volume.  Finally, the Zoom/Face Tracking menu is where you can enable its most impressive face tracking feature as well as auto zoom capabilities.

The Logitech Quickcam ORBIT allows you to take pictures and perform video capture in high 640x480 resolution.  I found that the difference between 640x480 and "megapixel" mode is unnoticeable to the naked eye.  I also couldn't find any detailed information on megapixel mode to be able to distinguish between the two modes.

In picture mode, you have two options available.  You can specify the camera to include a time/date stamp as well at take a picture after a user-specified amount of time.

In video mode, you have the option to include/exclude audio as well as specify when it should begin or end recording.

When the software is installed, it creates a system folder called "My Logitech Pictures", which integrates into windows explorer to provide you with some neat features such as viewing your pictures or videos as well as some buttons that allow you to quickly send your captured photos or videos via email.  Overall, the software is certainly designed for users of all levels and is extremely user-friendly.

The software also allows just about any user to create their own webcam.  A few years back, I personally ran a website that primarily featured access to webcams from around the world.  I was able to link to just about any live webcam.  Unfortunately, I had to bring it down after some threatening emails from the owners.  Regardless, my point is, setting up a webcam is fun and can actually be quite useful for certain situations.  The Logitech software provides you with easy steps to get a webcam up and running quickly.
