While I personally do not use webcams as much as
I used to a few years
back, I can honestly say that the Logitech Quickcam has always been my
preferred choice. The company has certainly come a long way from their first
B/W Quickcam. Sporting a highly innovative design and feature set, the Quickcam ORBIT, also nicknamed "HAL", is sure to impress those who see or use
it. This highly unusual and futuristic webcam features automatic pan and tilt
capabilities as well as automatic face-tracking software to ensure you're
always in the picture.

Its design is certainly out of the ordinary and
since its release, has gotten its nickname "HAL", due to its uncanny
resemblance to the infamous HAL 9000 computer in Stanley Kubrick's excellent
film, 2001: A Space Odyssey. This is primarily because of its red LED
when the webcam is in operation and its somewhat distinct yet innovative
ability to track the movements of the object in its view. In fact, you somewhat
feel a bit intimidated when you first set it up and enable its face-tracking
feature. Logitech also includes a 9-inch extension to accommodate just
about any setup environment.
