Conclusions

The OP1000 may not be the most aesthetically
pleasing PSU, may not sport fancy features such as a modular design, or even
an extra
large fan for maximum airflow at minimum noise levels. It is quite
obvious it was not designed with all this mind. What they did choose
to focus on
most with this product is reliability, impressive power and ultimate performance.
That's what this unit will truly offer you.
This unit is truly in a class of its own when it
comes down to voltage regulation. From startup to shutdown and everything in
between, the voltage readings from OP1000 were barely affected. Just
how little? Well, on average, we were looking at only a 0.01
fluctuation from the 12V rail, a mere 0.002 from the 5V rail and 0.003 from
the 3.3V rail. That makes the OP1000 the most impressive power supply
I have used or tested to date. Grab almost any power supply and test
it with a quality Multimeter through all phases tested here. What you
will find is an inconsistent reading up until the unit is idle for at least
a minute. With the OP1000, the reading you get is pretty much the
reading it will offer you, regardless of what strain you put it through.
In terms of its design and features, it does not
offer many most look for in products that cost substantially less.
However, those products will not perform at this level so keep that in mind
when building your system. There's no modular design nor a large
cooling fan. However, note that noise levels here not an issue at all
with this unit. For a high-performance desktop, noise will not be an
issue in such an environment. Finally, it was clear that this unit was
designed with gaming enthusiasts in mind. There aren't many 4-pin
power connectors but plenty of plugs for those running a high-end SLI or
Crossfire setup. For those not primarily into gaming but looking to
build a high-end system for other purposes, this unit should still be on
your list. However, not that the lack of 4-pin Molex connectors may be
an issue if you have plenty of cooling and case accessories to power.
You may even end up having to resort to some adapters to run all your
components.
The OP1000, simply put, is a Power Supply that
will offer you ultimate peace of mind, both in terms of its performance and
future-proof features. Yes, it is an expensive unit, but when you
look at it in these terms, it is most certainly a very wise investment for a
majority of enthusiasts. With that said, the OP1000 earns our very
highest recommendation.
