Silverstone Olympia OP1000 1000W Power Supply Review

Model:  OP1000

Manufacturer:  Silverstone

Provider:  Silverstone

Reviewed By:  Miguel

Review Date:  09/04/07

There is no doubt that the main focus behind all the products put out by Silverstone is overall quality.  This is apparent in their full line of PC enclosures that are among the highest quality cases money can buy.  However, over the past years, Silverstone has expanded their product line with a number of other components built with the same high standards.  With that said, one key component you certainly want in this level is none other than your power supply.  While there are many more established manufacturers that many may focus on when in search of such a product, you certainly don't want to ignore those new to the market with a very high reputation for quality and performance.  The product we have the pleasure of showing you today is certainly one of them.  Its design may not turn heads or sport any fancy features, but it is the focus behind its performance and reliability that will satisfy enthusiasts and offer peace of mind when it comes to running their new power-hungry systems.

The OP1000 was sent over by Silverstone along with their Temjin TJ10 chassis we have just recently reviewed.  Just like the TJ10, it shipped in an unusually large box.  As with most 1,000W+ units, they are not only significantly larger, but much heavier than your average power supply.  It ships in a fairly appealing carry-type box and is very well packaged to prevent damage during shipment.  Included with it is a very basic but informative manual and its own power cable, which most should note is a necessity when running this high-power unit.
