Conclusions

Very few products
that come in for review are not only impressive and feature-rich enough to spend a
considerable amount of extra time evaluating, but few are designed with such
unique functionality that they end up being a pleasure to use. The n-Tegrity
Pro from the talented folks at n-Trance is one if these rare products that
will certainly impress. After having the pleasure of spending
countless hours discovering and testing its somewhat endless array of
features, this biometric flash drive is certainly in a class of its own and
not to be mistaken as "just another flash drive".
Ultimate Security
It is hard to summarize all the features
covered in this article but I guess the best place to start is none other
than its highly impressive level of security. From the start, it is
very clear that this is the primary area of focus and the attention to
detail leaves no compromises. The biometric sensor is pretty much the
starting point. It is from here that they take full advantage of it in
a number of very unique ways. Other than using it simply to unlock the
drive and its data within, the biometric sensor is used in a number of other
ingenious ways. For example, it is the first product I have found that
allows RDC connections via your fingerprint! In addition to that, the
fingerprint scanner can be used to lock/unlock your PC and also as method to
log into networks. Heck, they are even bold enough to offer some
pretty extreme measures to ensure data security. Features like "Play
It Safe" and its ability to perform automatic deletion of files based on
user-defined parameters is enough to please even the most discerning user. Finally, n-Trance has developed a web
authentication solution that will definitely limit access to systems and/or
data unless you have one of these neat little drives. For the
extremely paranoid, there are options to permanently delete data, leaving
absolutely no trace of any kind. Overall, in terms of a security
standpoint, they have all end covered.
Practically Endless Array of Features
Without a doubt, this flash drive is in a
class of its own in terms of features. I highly doubt you'll find a
similar product with this many features focusing heavily on data management
and security. There's so much to say but I'll at least summarize the
main features here. Starting with "n-Act" and its impressive
application management features, the n-Tegrity allows you to not only
install and automatically run a high number of portable versions of common
software, but all data and history is stored on the drive itself, leaving
absolutely no trace on the host system. This includes applications like those
pre-installed, which include My IE, Thunderbird, Miranda and Skype.
The most impressive to me though was the main
"n-Pass" utility. Not only can you further tweak the level of security
from here, but there are quite a number of very useful feature here, some of
which have never been offered or implemented before by any product and/or
company. For one, you have a pretty decent data and contact management
solution that allows you to not only store your main contacts and your most
personal information, but all data is completely secure and most play a role
with other supported applications to ensure the most secure means of
communication and sharing of such data. Finally, let's not forget the
impressive VPN, RDC and Web authentication features! They all work
extremely well and the first of its kind in terms of security and clever
implementation. Your fingerprint allows access to any of these
sources, combining a number of other security features to ensure the highest
level of security possible.
What's Not To Like?
Unfortunately, every product has its share of
flaws. With the n-Tegrity, it was only in the area of performance.
However, there are reasons for this and its benefits certainly out way this
compromise. The n-Tegrity's main focus is obviously security and with
that said, there's actually a number of reasons as to why it can be quite
slow in terms of performance. One example is the application load
times. The drive will struggle to load all portable apps you have
configured for auto run and the reason behind this is that all primary use and
activity will reside on the drive itself. This is very important to
note here because there's plenty that goes on behind the scenes in terms of
writing to the drive. As an example, surfing the web will be much
slower because all history is captured on the drive rather than the host
machine. That is honestly just one of many features that makes this
product so impressive. As expected, the extensive performance tests
conducted left little to be desired. It will be significantly slower
to read and write from it do its unique capabilities. Keep in mind
that this is probably why it really isn't labeled as a flash storage drive
per say, but rather a portable data management solution.
Your Own Personal Secured Environment
Folks, the best way I can describe this
product is that it is one that will provide ultimate peace of mind thanks to
its highly unique features which will basically provide you with your own
secured working environment, regardless of what PC you plug this little
beast in. Despite its major flaws in terms of performance, once you
play with it and understand the way it functions, you'll clearly appreciate
what it has to offer and accept this compromise. With that said, the
n-Tegrity Pro earns our very highest recommendation and "Extreme Excellence
Award".
More info on the n-Trance n-Tegrity Pro can
be found on their
Official Website. Unfortunately, those in the USA will be
unable to easily purchase one. This may change based on an exchange of
emails I've had with them. However, the good news is that they will
have it available for direct purchase very soon via
this website.
