The
device sports an attractive anodized aluminum case surrounded by a blue/gray
strip along side the device. I have read that the color of this strip may vary
by device. This is just a rumor and I'm not 100% sure this is the case. I don't see why
they didn't just make it black. Black would make it look even more appealing.
It measures
2.98x4.42x0.96 inches and weighs in at 9.5oz. It's still larger and
heavier than the IPOD but not by much when compared to the IPOD's 20gig model.
Right side
On
the right, you will find the jog dial/scroller, reset button, menu button,
play/pause button and forward/reverse button.
Left Side
On
the left, you will find the power adaptor connector, power button, "Now
Playing" button and volume controls.

Top side
On the top of the device you have your stereo
headphone jack that will support a wired remote which is not yet available
from Creative. I guess they plan on releasing it at a later date.
Also located here are the two transfer ports.
Connectivity
The device offers both USB 1.1 and SB1394(Firewire)
connectivity. Those looking for speedy transfers can use the firewire port to
transfer your music 10x faster than USB. Creative decided to include USB
1.1 option as well for those that do not have firewire enabled PC's or for
easy transfer of files from remote PC's. You can conveniently charge
your Nomad Zen via the USB port as well but not through firewire.
The device doubles as a portable hard drive.
Not only can you transfer your mp3 & wma music files, but you can transfer
data files as well.
Sadly, creative failed to include a docking
station for the Zen. Based on the location of the connectivity ports, it
looks as if there won't be one made for it either. Being the owner of a
Nomad II MG, I really miss the docking station. However, most users will
transfer their entire music collection over to the device so their really
isn't a need for one.
