NZXT Nemesis Elite Mid-Tower Gaming Case

Model:  Nemesis Elite

Manufacturer:  NZXT

Provider:  NZXT

Reviewed By:  Tom

Review Date:  12/13/04

When I reviewed the NZXT Guardian back in April, I remember being distinctly disappointed with it. Not that I didn’t think the Guardian wasn’t a great chassis…far from it! But there were a lot of little finishing touches that NZXT had been overlooked or not thought about during the design phase that tempered the Guardian’s unique styling and effective design. As much as I didn’t think it would happen this year, NZXT is back in a big way with a new chassis, dubbed the Nemesis Elite. A quick glance at the propaganda evidently shows that Johnny H. and the rest of the NZXT team were watching the reviews and listening to the forums very carefully. The split level 80mm exhaust we didn’t like is gone, and the new Nemesis features three 120mm fans. The slightly annoying plastic door clip has also departed, replaced with a much nicer magnet. Although it appears that the moving “eye” is gone, it now changes into a variety of colors. NZXT has also brought a few more items to the table, in the form of die cast aluminum and a rotating multifunction LCD fan controller. With all this, I was certainly eager to get a look at the Nemesis Elite and put it through its paces. On with the review!

The Nemesis Elite arrived in a rather nice box, complete with all the relevant specifications and color clearly marked on the sides. The unit is packaged in the standard way, with Styrofoam end caps and covered in a plastic bag. The review unit I received clearly had been stripped of the 400W Orion power supply, although there was a power cable and manual inside the case. Just to clear up some potential confusion, there are actually two types of Nemesis - The “Elite” model we have here features all aluminum construction and comes only in black or silver and the standard Nemesis comes in several colors, including blue, bronze, grey, black, and white. The standard model has steel construction and has a different rail system than the Elite, and also lacks the LCD. By looking at a few pictures, it appears to be an identical rail system to the Guardian, with the addition of 120mm exhaust and a side facing hard drive cage.
