Conclusions
Ximeta should be commended for the effort put
into the design and functionality of the new NetDisk Office. It is a
highly innovative product, and would be a perfect file sharing solution for
many users and/or companies. Thanks to Ximeta's own NDAS
Technology, it is the only device of its kind that will allow you to easily
access data on multiple machines as if it were a local disk on your
computer. Installation is a snap, and there is no need to format the
drive or configure it on your existing network. Its performance
was also very impressive and will allow you to access data simultaneously
from multiple computers. Security features include hardware keycodes
for secure access, as well as the ability to enable/disable read only access
to the drive. The only thing I was not too thrilled with,
was the noise of the small fan. However, it is likely that this device
will be used in an office environment and therefore the noise will not be an
issue at all. There were also minor software glitches, but this is
something Ximeta can easily fix with a later build of their software. The drive has a whopping 250GB storage capacity and although a
bit on the expensive side, it will basically eliminate the need for another
machine or dedicated server which can cost hundreds more to run and
maintain. Recommended product.
