Coolermaster LLC-U03 Musketeer 2 Review

Installation

I installed the Musketeer II in a Casemaxx 210 right alongside the Musketeer I. I decided to install both of the LED switches, just to make sure they were functional. Both worked in the intended manner, except that the mounting bracket for the 3.5” switch was entirely too short. The mounts on the bracket did not reach the mounts on the case at all. The PCI bracket, on the other hand, installed perfectly. Personally, I’m surprised that a switch was not included on the Musketeer II itself. The audio bracket bent noticeably when I inserted the audio plugs…it could use a little more support.

Finally, Time to put some juice into this sucker! The lighting is slightly different than the original Musketeer. It is neat in its own way, because the background creates lighter letters on a slightly darker background. The effect is very nice, and unlike the setup on the original Musketeer it will work with any of the seven colors. The colors, from upper left on down, are White, Red, Green, Dark Blue, Yellow, Light Blue, and Purple. As these photos illustrate, the center dial does not always match the outer two dials. That’s something that could use a little tweaking.

The Multicolor mode is pretty intense…the speed that it blinks reminded me a little of a strobe light. It is not a setting for the faint of heart! Here’s a video of the multicolor mode.

Testing

My testing consisted of making sure each part of the Musketeer functioned like it said it would on the box or in the manual. This went without incident.
