Today, we will be looking at a highly innovative new product from I/O Magic
that incorporates two of the most useful computing functions into one highly
appealing product. The new Media Station Writer from I/O Magic is an external
USB 2.0 CDRW drive with a built-in flash media card reader. A lot has been put
into both its function and design and is a product that should appeal to a
variety of PC and case-modding enthusiasts.

Its
attractive two-tone silver/black housing looks great and has a few features
for you case-modders out there. The top of the unit has a clear strip
that lights up and acts as both a power and status strobe light. What's
really nice is that you have the option of changing the lighting on this unit
to either blue, red or purple to match your current system setup. We'll
see it in action a bit later in this review!

The
top section acts as a flash media card reader and has slots for all supported
media which include Compact Flash, Smart Media, Memory Stick, Secure Digital,
MultiMedia and IBM MicroDrive cards. On the rear of the unit you have a
power switch, dual USB connectors for both the drive and card reader, audio
output jack and LED dip switches to change the external lighting color.

The
drive ships with a high quality twin USB cable with gold plated leads.
Cables like this can be really expensive if purchased separately, so it was
nice to see them bundled along with this drive.
