Installation

Installation is honestly quite cumbersome and requires the removal of six
screws plus there are four additional screws that hold the drive to the
support bracket. You basically do have to take the whole thing apart,
including the circuit board itself.

Also, if you are using a much older 2.5" hard drive, there is a chance you
may not be able to install the drive. For example, I first attempted
with a very old 2.5" drive I had lying around but it was slightly too tall
and I could not slide it back in the enclosure.
Bundled Software

The
MS02 comes with an application called BackupKingX that is designed to allow
you to configure its one button backup feature. Personally, I don't
think it is very user-friendly. Novice users may have some difficulty
getting the hang of it and creating your own backup tasks. However,
once you do, it does work well.

In
order for the button on the enclosure to work, you first have to properly
setup a backup task using the program. This consists of assigning both
the source and destination directories.

You
can set the action type to backup, restore or synchronize and can even
schedule a backup to your liking. This is quite nice but you'll have
to have the software running in order for it to work properly.
Conclusions

The new Silverstone MS02 is a high quality
hard drive enclosure with additional features that makes it an excellent
and inexpensive backup solution for many home users. Its sleek design is highly appealing and you'll
definitely be pleased with the quality and craftsmanship.
Installation, however, is not exactly easy and will require you to
completely disassemble the enclosure in order to mount your drive properly.
The software, although quite useful, is not very user-friendly and I had a
bit of difficulty at first when attempting to make use of the one button
backup feature. However, once you get the hang of it, it can be a very
handy tool that will allow you to even schedule a particular backup based on
your needs. Overall, the MS02 is a quality product and certainly
not your average enclosure. EMHz recommended.
