Matrix Orbital MX212 Review - Continued

Hardware Installation

The MX212 is very simple to install and get up and running quickly.

The display is easily mounted on a free 5.25" bay with the included screws.  The USB cable is already attached so just feed it through an opening on the rear of your case (PCI Slot opening will do) and connect the cable to an available USB port.

Software Installation

Drivers for the display are included in the ECD but can also be downloaded from the Matrix Orbital website.  I did have trouble installing the drivers on on the CD but the drivers on the website worked just fine.

Once you plug the device in, the new hardware wizard should appear.  Simple select advanced and browse out to the directory where you have downloaded and extracted the driver files.

If installing on a Windows XP machine, you will get the driver warning.  Just click on Continue Anyway and it will begin installing the proper files.  That's it!

You should see the display under your USB Controllers and a COM port assigned to it under Ports.

Finally, a shot of the display properly installed:

Looks great doesn't it?  The MX2 USB display is available in a variety of colors to go along nicely with any setup.
