Matrix Orbital LK202-25-GW-V Review - Introduction

Model:  LK202-25

Manufacturer:  Matrix Orbital

Reviewed By:  Miguel

Serial displays are getting quite popular these days.  There are many  types available.  From character LCD's to Graphics LCD's and even VFD displays.  Today we look at Matrix Orbital's most popular character LCD, the LK202-25.  Matrix Orbital is a top manufacturer of high quality, easy to use display modules.

The specific model we will look at is the LK202-25-GW-V.  This 2x20 character LCD display is white backlit with dark blue characters.  Quite attractive indeed and definitely a great alternative to the boring green LCD displays available.  How good does it look and perform?  We will soon see...

Contents:

The display is sold separately and comes with a CD and a letter indicating contents in package and a notice warning you not to connect the display improperly.  The power & serial cables are optional but can be purchased directly from Matrix Orbital.

Above is a shot of the high voltage power cable and serial cable needed to run the display.  NOTE:  This is not a floppy connector.  I recommend you purchase the power cable from Matrix Orbital to prevent damage to your display.

The Display:

Above are the front & back shots of the module itself.   Don't be fooled by the greenish tint of the LCD.  You will soon see what a beauty it really is.  The back of the display reveals the power connector and the RS232 serial connector.  This display is very easy to install.
