MGE VIPER 2 Gaming Case Review

Model:  VIPER 2

Manufacturer:  XG Gamer

Provider:  XG Gamer

On occasion, I get the satisfaction of reviewing a new or revised version of a product I’ve reviewed in the past. It’s a great opportunity to see if the vendors are watching these product reviews and actually integrating the suggestions into new products. Today, XG Gamer was kind enough to send out their new Viper 2, the successor to their original Viper. Love or hate it, the Viper did get lots of attention for the launch of XG Gamer last year, and so one must chalk it up to a success. The Viper 2 is working on improving the shortcomings of the original and still be flashy. Let’s take a look!

MGE has certainly taken the packaging of this beast to heart. My review sample was double boxed, but the actual box that holds the case is actually rated to take 70 pounds of force and not collapse! Also, the Styrofoam was encased in a cardboard cover that will help it from falling apart if it should take a major blow. Excellent!

One thing that XG is doing that I approve of is the bundling of some extras in with the case. It’s all good as long as it’s not bundled in with the OS, right? There is a CD and a coupon book that include a free mod kit (UV LED fan, Laser LED light, 2 UV IDE cables, UV Cold Cathode light, Laser Beam Light, and a UV Floppy Cable), 100 free MP3s from EMusic.com, Panda Internet Security software, and a Bloodrayne 2 demo. I’ve gotten a few MP3s off of EMusic before, and they have the benefit of not having any DRM attached to them. The CD contains the same offers, just in another format. I do wish more gaming cases came loaded like this…it’s been common for motherboards for years.
