Installation & Testing

With
the small number of plugs, I ended up having to install this unit in the same
AMD system that the Chromed Logisys power supply was tested in recently. I had
just enough plugs, thanks to being able to use the SATA power connector. The
system specifications were as outlined in the chart below. Testing consisted
of getting a baseline from an idle state using Motherboard Monitor 5 and then
loading the system with the SiSoft SANDRA Burn In wizard and taking another
reading. This system is overclocked, and I was also testing system stability
without a paging file at the time this test was run.

Overall, it’s not too bad. We saw a little bit of sag over the 12V and 5V
rails, as well as some slight movement on the 3.3V rail. I’m pretty sure that
with your normal system this power supply would be adequate, but I’m also
pretty sure this unit would cook if you ran it anywhere close to 500W for a
prolonged period.
