Installation & Testing
My
review sample was so early, that I ended up having to do a little wire
splicing myself in order to get it to function as advertised. This is not
something you will have to deal with in the production models.
Installation went smoothly aside from that, and the only other gripe I had
was that the PCI cover that houses the antenna just did not want to mount
securely with the tool-free clips in a Silverstone TJ06. This was fixed by
adding a screw.
Range was pretty good. My office is upstairs, and when I got up in the
morning I could smack the button and the computer would be powered up and
ready to go by the time I got my orange juice and got upstairs. The solenoid
that articulates the switch has a noticeable click to it, which almost
precludes the need for an indicator light.
All the various ports functioned as advertised, as well as the fan control.
The analog gauges also appeared to be in the correct ballpark, although this
type of indicator is hard pressed to make exact measurements readable to the
user. Still, it does look cool.
Conclusions

Well, I’ll certainly have to give Logisys kudos for getting this unit out.
It’s certainly a looker, and will definitely be a conversation piece
wherever it makes an appearance. It does have some functionality so as not
to totally waste a 5.25” bay for just a remote start. Plus, any extra
Firewire, USB, and fan control is always welcome. Range was excellent, and
the remote worked reliably even from other rooms in my house. If you’re
looking for a unique add-on for your PC, you certainly can’t go wrong here.
Last I spoke with
Logisys,
they had the initial shipments on the way and are pricing this unit at about
$49.99 USD. EM Recommended!
