Thermaltake LanBox Deluxe MicroATX Chassis Review

Model:  VF1000BWS

Manufacturer:  Thermaltake

Provider:  Xoxide

Reviewed By:  Miguel

Thermaltake is a company that has been producing a number of highly appealing cases over the past couple of years.  However, I've found that most of their cases are hit or miss when it comes to quality.  While some look great on pictures, they disappoint once you see them first-hand.  The Tsunami was a perfect example.  However, while many manufacturers have been releasing a number of small form factor cases to cater to the HTPC enthusiast, few focus on a product designed especially for gamers and LAN goers.  Their new LanBox is not only unique in this aspect, but one that happens to fall in the quality category as well.  Let's have a thorough look...

Nothing much to brag about the box, other than the fact that it is obviously much smaller than the standard packaging on towers and even most desktops.  They do have plenty of info on the product printed on the box.  The LanBox comes with a bag of install hardware (standoffs already mounted for you), an optical drive adapter, detailed installation manual and even a cleaning cloth.

The Thermaltake LanBox comes in four varieties.  It can be purchased in silver or black and there is a standard and deluxe model for each.  The standard model does not have windows nor does it have the handle.  Fortunately, Xoxide did send over the black Deluxe model that not only has windows on both sides, but sports a super nice carry handle made entirely out of aluminum.  The difference in price is minimal, and you'll definitely want to grab the Deluxe model if you don't plan on using this chassis in a home entertainment environment.
