When on the market for a new case, Silverstone
is usually a brand that may be out of reach for many PC enthusiasts on a
budget. Their Temjin series cases, like the excellent new Temjin 10 we
recently reviewed, are their bread and butter but will set you back a few
hundred dollars. While honestly worth every penny, the truth is that
many may simply be unable to afford these high-end cases. The good
news is that Silverstone has just launched a new Tower Series primarily set
to target gamers and enthusiasts on a tighter budget. Today we look at
one of the first two in this series, the Kublai KL01. At less than
half the price of most of their Temjin cases, will you have to sacrifice quality and
some of their nifty design features? Let's have a thorough look...

The case was not double-boxed, but did arrive
undamaged. It ships in quite an appealing box that details most of its
main features. It is well packaged and if you purchase the window
model, it will have a film on it to prevent damage during transit.
Included with the case is a small white box with the usual install hardware,
a nice install manual, a pair of 3.5" to 5.25" drive adapters and
a new Silverstone CP05 adapter (more on that later!).
Design - A Quick Glance

Taking a quick glance at the case after
un-boxing, I couldn't help but notice that its body is honestly no different
than a majority of cases out on the market. I've taken a look at so
many cases over the years and will say that there was nothing spectacular
here and was about average for a budget case. However, its finish is
certainly a step above in terms of quality and this was expected.
If you choose the window model, you'll notice just how large the side window
really is. It takes pretty much the whole side panel and is certainly
much larger than a majority.
