Back in high school, I fondly remember the
year I got a four channel Pioneer SX-201 amplifier. Prior to that, all I’d
had for sound was a simple tape deck boom box. The sudden ability to have
four full channels of sound made a huge impact on the music I listened to.
Back then, most computers were lucky to have a set of stereo speakers, and
more often then not only had the small internal speaker for sound. Ten years
later, the change is quite dramatic. Most motherboards, like the budget MSI
KM4M-L we looked at not long ago, have onboard support for 5.1 audio. So why
settle for simple stereo speakers? Today I’ll be taking a look at a budget
minded set of speakers from
CompGeeks, the Juster
DHT-918C 5.1 system.
Packaging &
Contents
The 918Cs arrived in a colorful retail box that displays much of the
relevant data on the speakers within.

The speakers themselves are packed wrapped in plastic and inserted into a
Styrofoam block, with the cord ends wrapped up and twist tied as well.
