Conclusions

The InnoDisk Flash Card 8GB is a
product that will impress those who are still after the smallest, highest
performing drive available on the market. In fact, after using a number of drives
in this category, I find it safe to say that this is one that PQI needs to
worry about
when you factor in a number of features. These include an impressive
8GB of storage, slightly more durable design and much more impressive
performance than its counterparts. This tiny drive is the only one
I've come across that manages to provide ample storage that rivals that of
some of the very latest drives on the market that happen to been
significantly larger in size.
In terms of performance, it is clearly more
impressive than the three drives on the market that
I consider to be the smallest.
I happen to own or have used all three and this latest drive from InnoDisk
is a major step ahead in terms of a performance perspective. While it is no Voyager GT, it will honestly provide acceptable performance
for large file transfers and I think most will find it a decent compromise
based on size.
In terms of features, it does at least offer
some basic security features for those concerned about data protection.
However, the software tools it provides are very basic and and I found they
can be quite cumbersome and actually confuse most
novice users when attempting to configure the drive for this type of use.
Final Thoughts
While this drive came pretty close, in my
opinion, the perfect flash drive is still
apparently out of reach. Give me a high capacity drive this small made
of
either aluminum or titanium with similar performance, and I'll finally
be satisfied.
There's no better way to carry a flash drive than on your keychain. However,
most
are bulky and others are just too fragile. While this tiny drive actually did take
some
abuse during the past week, in the end, it just couldn't hold up. Why? Well, I was
actually at the Projekt Revolution concert this past weekend and happened to
reach for my camera during a final performance. That's when I dropped my keys
only to find that the drive was no longer attached to my key ring! In a
completely sold out show with this many people crammed into such a small
space, finding this little drive was quite a challenge. With that said,
like many other drives of this size, you will always run the risk of eventually losing it
if you choose to attach it to your keychain. Please
keep that in mind if you choose to carry this product in this fashion.
Frustrations aside though, this little drive certainly packs a punch and
happens to offer a fairly decent mix of ultimate portability and performance.

The
InnoDisk Flash Card 8GB was available at a great price from
Geeks.com.
Unfortunately though, they currently no longer have stock of the 8GB model
but do still have some of their
1GB models available for purchase. At less than $16, it's a
steal and highly recommended.
I've been told they will try an get more stock. Considering it can be
quite difficult to find this product, you may want to keep
an eye on their
complete
line of flash drives for updates.
