Testing

I
rounded up the mouse herd, and set them loose on the Hybrid. Both of the Razer
mice loved this pad, and worked well in both tracking and movement. The
Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer also worked well on this pad, and also
experienced a bit of a performance boost by using the Teflon Mad Dotz.
The only failure was my tiny modded Targus travel mouse. This mouse has
received the blue LED mod, and I like to include it to test the pads
compatibility with this popular mod. At first, I thought it was going to pass,
but the mouse ceased to track if I made any really sudden movements. The mouse
tracked just fine otherwise.
Conclusions

Xtrac
is definitely on the right track with the Hybrid. If you prefer a more solid
mouse surface and you don’t want to pay for a more expensive and potentially
less portable gaming pad you should probably check out the Hybrid. It is not a
perfect replacement, but it is a unique compromise. Performance was excellent
with standard mice, although not if you’ve modded your mouse with a blue LED.
Another small gripe was that the edges of this pad tend to fray a little bit,
but that’s a minor cosmetic issue. You can get a Hybrid for about $25.00 USD
at an Xtrac reseller, so it’s an easy one on the wallet. EM Recommended!
