XTracPads Hybrid Performance Mouse Pad

Model:  Hybrid

Manufacturer:  XtracPads

Provider:  XtracPads

Not too long ago during a prolonged bull session, someone proposed the analogy that gaming mouse pads were a lot like performance car tires. Having thought it over some, I’m surprised at the validity of that statement. This is very true in the enthusiast segment, where most pads are designed for a specific purpose. Today I get to take a look at a new release from Xtrac Pads - The Hybrid. This pad combines a more rigid surface with the portability of a cloth pad, attempting to nudge in on a very specific niche. After all, you don’t put slicks on you daily driver, right? Let’s take a look!

The Hybrid arrived in a pretty nifty box. The package contained the pad, a sticker, an instruction card, and a set of Mad Dotz.

The Hybrid is pretty wide, and compares to the Ripper XL pretty closely in that regard. The Hybrid has a distinctly coarser feel to its surface however, and is totally unlike the silky feel of the Ripper. The instruction paper makes it clear that rolling the Hybrid with the surface on the inside will create permanent wrinkles.

The back of the Hybrid has the same rubberized texturing you’re likely to see on many other mouse pads. The good thing is, due to its size there is a lot more gripping surface.

Specifications

The following is the specifications blurb from the Xtrac Pads website:

The XTracPads HYBRID™ is the result of a highly flexible cloth surface combined with the slickness of a plastic top mouse pad... on the SAME surface at the SAME time!
High performance, comfortable and great for high or low sensitivity mouse settings. Sure Grip rubber backing really "grips" most desktop surfaces. Flexible enough to be transported to LAN parties, work, friends houses or anywhere you want to take it. The XTracPads HYBRID also looks great sitting next to your keyboard.

Specifications:

• 10" x 16" x 3/16" (254mm x 406mm x 4.77mm)
• Sure Grip rubber backing
• Hybrid mousing surface

The XTracPads HYBRID is 100% compatible with all high quality optical and laser mice.
