AeroCool ExtremEngine 3T Gaming Case - Air Cooling at its Best

Conclusions

When it comes down to air cooling, bigger is always better. The bigger the fan, the more airflow and the less noise it will generate. The ExtremEngine manages to offer both and is an excellent case not only for the gamer, but for the overclocker as well.  It's a small and light case that sports the largest fans "out of the box"  without the need for modifications.  It provides excellent ventilation and you can expect some impressive temps if paired with a quality HSF.  It is suitable for those who simply do not wish to venture into watercooling or other methods that typically provide a higher level of performance, but want to still maintain noise levels to the bare minimum.  In terms of overall cooling, it has all ends covered, right down to the left side vents that manage to dissipate heat efficiently.

However, the ExtremEngine is not without its share of flaws.  For one, other than its excellent paint finish, I don't consider this a quality case by any means when compared to some of the cases we have looked at here.  While the Fan Controller is one of the best I've used and one that will certainly not disappoint, its overall build quality, with the exception of the aluminum font panel, is mediocre and you will not find any of the high-end features typically found on a case in this particular price range.  Also, there are some serious design flaws, including the drive cage which does not have the holes properly aligned for you to mount a hard drive properly.  The other issue was the PSU mounting.  It will force you to install your power supply upside-down without modification.

When it comes down to it, no case is perfect and you must learn to accept this when on the market for a new one.  Provide me with a case as impressive as this with a full aluminum body and I may reconsider.  However, the new ExtremEngine 3T does offer two of the most important features...excellent cooling and extremely portable.  For this, it does earn my recommendation.

Bottom line?  It was a very nice attempt by AeroCool to release a case that many have indeed wished for over the past couple of years.

The AeroCool ExtremEngine 3T is quite hard to find at the moment considering it has just been released.  However, Xoxide is one of the only two sources I have found to stock this case.
