Auravision (EluminX) Laser Mouse Review

Installation

No drivers are required for Window XP but installing them adds a mouse icon to the systray that will allow you to make adjustments and set the function of your wheel button.

Performance

The Auravision Laser Mouse may not offer all the bells and whistles seen in other mice but it does offer one very important one, excellent tracking.  Thanks to its 800 dpi resolution, the Laser Mouse excels in this category.  When testing it on some high performance optical mouse pads such as the Steelpad and Ratpad, the mouse performed flawlessly.   So good in fact, that we had to adjust the sensitivity within Windows.

The Laser Mouse looks just as great in dim lighting.  The deep blue sapphire glow from the scroll wheel is very similar to that of the EluminX keyboard and compliments it quite nicely.  The semi-transparent bottom allows the red optical lighting to shine through the rear and the blue glow from the wheel through the sides.   Looks very nice.  I would like to add that the wheel itself functions quite nicely.   It's smooth and silent.  Very similar feel to most Logitech mice.

Conclusion

We were generally quite impressed with this new mouse from Auravision.  Not only does it offer a sleek new and innovative design, it also offers superb tracking.  Its performance was excellent on all the mousing surfaces we tried it on.  It may not offer other features such as extra buttons, but it makes up for it with its cool blue glow and highly attractive design that should appeal to case modders or those with blue lighting in their setup.  As you know, no product is perfect and we did have one minor gripe with the Laser Mouse.  The left and right buttons are very noisy.  If you're particularly picky about the clicking noise of your mouse, then this may be an issue.  Aside from that, the wheel itself feels very nice and smooth and is almost silent.

The Auravision Laser Mouse is competitively priced.  You can pick one up directly from Auravision for only $30.  It also seems that Auravision is currently having a free shipping promo on all their products through the end of the year.

Pros Cons
  • Great Looks
  • Unique blue glow
  • Excellent tracking
  • Great scroll wheel
  • No extra buttons
  • Left/Right buttons are noisy
