Auravision (EluminX) Laser Mouse Review

Model:  Laser Mouse

Manufacturer:  Auravision

Provider:  Auravision

Reviewed By:  Miguel

Review Date:  11/19/03

Introduction

A while back, we took a look at the highly popular EluminX keyboard from Auravision.  This innovative product took the modding community by storm, being the first illuminated keyboard available to consumers.  What many are unaware of, however, is that Auravision has recently released a mouse to compliment their popular EluminX keyboard.   Referred to as the Laser Mouse, this sleek and highly attractive mouse sports a sapphire blue glow wheel and an excellent optical sensor.  ExtremeMHz has got their hands on one.  Let's take a look...

Surprisingly, the mouse came in a small plain white box.  I'm assuming this is just how Auravision is sending their review samples so the retail packaging may be different.  Included with the mouse was a floppy disk containing software/drivers and a sheet containing software installation instructions.

As you can see from the pictures, the design of this mouse is quite stunning.  Personally, I think its the most attractive looking mouse I've laid eyes on. The only way I see it can look any better is if they offered a all black version using the same material as on the top part of the mouse.  Its sleek curves and black/silver color combination make it look quite appealing.

Our sample did not come with a PS/2 adapter so chances are you'll need a USB port to use this mouse or have an available PS/2 adapter lying around if you wish to use this interface.  The bottom of the mouse is made of smoked (semi-transparent) black plastic similar to most Logitech mice and will allow some light to shine through it.  There are four white pads that will allow the mouse to glide smoothly on just about any surface.
