Introduction
We
have seen just about every manufacturer of essential PC components and
accessories conform to the changing look and design of PC's today. Mice,
speakers, USB devices and other accessories are being designed to compliment
just about any setup, giving PC's a more high tech look and feel. Even
components such as motherboards and video cards for example, are available in
a variety of PCB colors and most sport some unique looking cooling devices,
making them highly popular among PC enthusiast and the case modding community.
Keyboards on the other hand, have not changed much in both design and
technology. Although they are available in other colors such as black and
silver and include additional features such as programmable buttons, they are
still a step behind all other hardware when it comes to high tech design
features. One company has managed to break this norm, offering a rather
unique keyboard that is sure to grab anyone's attention.
Let's face it, we have said it before and we'll say it again...Blue is in.
Computing Hardware with Blue Lighting or LED's is much more visually appealing
and gives them that high tech look we love. We are easily attracted to such
devices and many companies are featuring new products that make use of them.
Auravision has incorporated blue lighting in a way that is both appealing as
well as practical with their highly popular Eluminx Keyboard. This
illuminated keyboard can be used by gamers, for late night computing in dark
settings or those looking for the ultimate in high tech computing.
The
Eluminx uses patented Electroluminescent (EL) technology to illuminate the
entire keyboard from underneath. The illumination becomes more apparent
as ambient light is reduced and full illumination is most apparent in total
darkness.
Although this is the first of its kind to be offered to consumers, the
technology is not exactly new. It was first employed in laptop
computers by the military for use in the field and other non-traditional
settings where ideal computing situations did not exist.
