EFO Wireless Handheld Keyboard & Mouse Review

Performance

This handheld keyboard/mouse was primarily tested with my main HTPC rig.  Unlike a number of wireless keyboards for this kind of use, this one did not give me any trouble whatsoever and its range and responsiveness is excellent.  It is rated to function up to 30ft away and this was certainly the case, as I was able to use it from any area in my living room.

Now, I personally love my Gyration In-air remote for mouse functionality and likely will never part with it.  You can read more about it in our highly popular HTPC Guide here.  I don't like touchpads for this kind of use but will fairly say the one featured in this product did manage to impress me.  It works well and once you get the hang of it and use it properly, you can slide that mouse cursor from end to end of a large HDTV with ease.  Buttons are stiff and no doubt feel cheap but actually work well.

Unfortunately, this is not really a "full" QWERTY keyboard and there's a number of functions you simply will not be able to do.  As an example, you can't easily take a screenshot via say a ALT Print Screen function.  There are no such keys nor are there any functions keys.

Conclusions

In the years of being around and based on the high number of products I have received over the years, this is honestly one of the most unique yet highly difficult in terms of how to appropriately draw final conclusions.  While I simply couldn't get over the dummy-like, cheap design, it managed to perform beyond what was expected and I just couldn't find a reason to put this product down...in all aspects of the word.  It is not only the smallest wireless keyboard you'll find with built-in mouse functionality, but happens to be one that performs well despite its unimpressive build quality.  The bottom line here folks is that it simply works.  With that said, I do think its practical design at least earns our recommendation and one I would recommend to those looking for the smallest keyboard on the market with mouse functionality.

More information on the EFO Wireless Handheld Keyboard/Mouse can be found on their website.  You can also purchase directly from them at a very reasonable price of $40.  Remember they also have a white model available for purchase.
