We
will be using the very latest build of Nero's CD-DVD Speed, build 3.40.
1.
CD-DVD Speed - Pressed CD

With our pressed CD tests, the BenQ DW1620 shows
transfer rates just slightly under its rated 40x. We also see some low
seek times and fairly low CPU usage.
2. CD-DVD Speed - CDR

We see similar results with CDR media, with the
exception of the lower seek times.
3. CD-DVD Speed - CDRW

Most drives do struggle with CDRW media,
however, the BenQ DW1620 showed similar results to that of our pressed CD and
CDR media. The only noticeable difference was the slightly higher seek
times. It is one of the best performing drives we have looked at when it
comes to reading this kind of media.
4. DAE - Advanced Quality Tests

The BenQ DW1620 did fairly well in our advanced
digital audio extraction tests. The average speed was lower than most of
the other drives we have looked at but did not report any errors. As
far as the on-the-fly copying tests go, it oddly failed at 12x but did OK at
16x. It was also unable to read leadout info on the disc.
