Based on some email requests from our readers, today we will take a look at
yet another 16x DVD writer, this time from BenQ. Not to be confused with
the DW1610, the new DW1620 offers the same capabilities but adds support for
double layer writing. While not a 4x double layer writer, this drive is
set to compete against the Lite-On SOHW-1633s and LG GSA-4160B. This is
the first time we'll be checking out a product from BenQ and based on all I've read, it
appears to be a well performing drive. Let's take it for a spin to see
if it is indeed impressive.

Our sample was an OEM and did not come with
anything, not even a manual. Just the bare drive for us to work with.

The front of this drive is just as plain looking
as both the DVR-108 and ND-3500A. There is one eject button and one
green LED. The BenQ logo is not even displayed in this OEM model.

Whether you get this drive with a white or black bezel, they both feature a
black colored tray which is designed to minimize jitters to enhance writing
quality.

Like most of the 16x drives we have looked at,
the label had a manufactured date of August 2004.
