As
I mentioned before, the 800 dpi resolution is somewhat limiting if you’re
primarily into FPS games. Once I saw the four-way scrolling however, I
decided to break out Mechwarrior 4. For those who have never played it, the
real trick to success is to be able to manage the various control systems on
the ‘mech quickly, and without having to hunt for a key. The extra scroll
gave me the ability to manage torso twisting, aiming, and throttle on the
mouse, leaving my other hand free to manage weapons and steering. It is
definitely a nice advantage to have in that particular game.
I spent this last week using both the Curve Mouse and the EL Office Keyboard
to work on my Novell coursework and to edit the three reviews I’ve been
working on this week. The Curve mouse does not have Teflon feet, and the
action is a little less slick then what you’d find with an MX1000 or a
Diamondback, although it is a pretty light mouse. Tracking was also very
nice, and I didn’t experience any major issues with it at all. I worked with
the cable mashed into the little holder on the front of this mouse for about
three days, but didn’t really notice much of a difference. The cable is so
small and light that it’s really not that big a deal.

Aside from the driver, the included software offers these two Spartan menus.
They do cover the critical nessessities, such as controlling the scroll
speed and what function is assigned to the center button. No points lost
here, but none gained.
Conclusions

Logisys has done a
fine job on this mouse. It is a little on the small side, but that may be an
advantage if you’re looking for something a little smaller than the normal
mouse. Tracking and general performance are right at what you’d expect to
see out of an 800 dpi optical mouse. The four-way tracking is a very handy
feature to have, and I’d certainly like to see more mice implement it in the
future. Aside from the tacky lettering it’s a sharp looking mouse, and the
unique curve makes it a comfortable mouse to use unless you’re left handed.
At about $15 bucks, this is not a wallet-breaker either. You can pick one of
these up in Blue, Red, or the Jade model that we’ve shown you here. EM
