Along with the Keyboard that I reviewed last
week, Logisys also tossed in one of their new Curve Mice. With an
interesting new ergonomic design, a little bit of flash, and a unique four
way scroll wheel, on paper this looked like an interesting product. Did it
hold up to closer scrutiny? Read on and find out!
Packaging & Contents
Logisys took the care to pack this item in a
nice blister pack that has all the pertinent details and highlights right on
the front.

When I first pulled this mouse out of the package, I was immediately struck
by how small it was. It’s roughly in-between your usual notebook sized mouse
and a normal full size mouse, so it may be an interesting alternative to
those with small hands who want a smaller mouse for their desktop, or a user
who wants a notebook mouse that isn’t tiny, but isn’t huge either.

The
Curve mouse features 800 dpi resolution, which marks it at a casual
gamer/desktop user mouse.

This mouse looks much better in person then it does on the Logisys website.
With multiple LEDs, it also lights up very nicely. The mouse has a nice
soft-touch plastic on it, and does not feel horribly cheap like some of
these aftermarket mice tend to. The USB cable is thin, and long enough not
to be a major problem. The only gripe I particularly had with the physical
look of this mouse was the lettering on the right hand side…it seemed a
little tacky and unnecessary. You may have also noticed the funny looking
bump just in front of the scroll wheel…this is an interesting feature which
allows you to hook the cable vertically on the front of the mouse. Logisys
says that this is to eliminate the drag of the cable on the mouse pad. I’m
not sure I buy that it’s that much of an improvement, but we’ll check it out
in our testing.

The
biggest unique feature on this mouse is the four way scroll wheel. Along
with the normal vertical scrolling, this unit can also scroll horizontally,
which is an especially useful feature when working with large spreadsheets
or graphics. On the bad side, it only has three buttons on it – the two
normal ones, and one in the scroll wheel. Personally, I’m not big on extra
mouse buttons, but five should be the standard for mice nowadays.
