Razer is honestly a company I have the utmost
respect for in terms of their commitment to please both the enthusiast and
gaming community. They go above an beyond the norm in order to provide
a product that will seriously impress. The previous reviews
we have done here do show just how innovative their products are. After
visiting their booth at CES and having the pleasure of sitting down with
Razerguy himself, they have generously sent both Tom and I their
flagship mouse, the Razer Copperhead. Today, we both put it through
its paces to see how impressive it really is. After all, two opinions
are better than one right?

Unlike their previous models, the Copperhead
does not come with a neoprene bag. However they include plenty of
documentation and a software CD.

The
Razer Copperhead is just as appealing as their Limited Edition Plasma with
IR LED. It sports an all black ambidextrous shell and comes in three varieties,
Tempest Blue (reviewed here), Anarchy Red and Chaos Green.

The
Copperhead is a Laser Mouse. The bottom sports some Ultraslick Teflon
feet and a profile change/reset button. More on that later...
Copperhead vs. Plasma LE

The
Copperhead is slightly larger than the Plasma LE and does have some minor
but welcomed changes. For one, I love the scroll wheel.
Unlike their other mice, it does have small grooves on it that feel quite
nice. Another change are the side buttons. The are now two
individual buttons as opposed to just one. For
those who read the Plasma LE review, I did not like the one button design
with the small grooves. The level of comfort will depend on the user,
but I find this design to be the best so far. The buttons on the right
side will be difficult to make use of, but for DPI changing (default), this
works just fine.
Tom's Comments on overall design
"Overall, there is not much difference between the Diamondback and the
Copperhead. The Copperhead has a slightly higher palm rest on it and the
buttons are larger, separated, and below the rubber grip instead of
integrated in it. The scroll wheel also has some slight indentations on it
for grip, another big difference."
