I have always been a fan of navigation
software for mobile devices such as Pocket PC's, Smartphones and all Windows
Mobile phones. Most work just as well and are more pleasant to use than any
in-dash/portable navigation device. You basically have three options
in terms of the most respected and reliable. One of them is CoPilot from ALK
Technologies. I have taken a look at their CoPilot Live 6 Suite a
while back and today have the pleasure of taking a look at their new CoPilot
Live 7 Navigation Suite. Featuring a whole new "touch-friendly" interface
and a number of other excellent features, this is one of the best options
for anyone with a Windows Mobile Phone. Let's have a very thorough
look at their latest...

You have the option of buying their excellent
software by itself or opt for the full "Bluetooth Edition" package.
ALK sent over their full package and boy does it come loaded with plenty of
goodies. Included is their re-designed Bluetooth receiver, A/C
adapter, USB cable, neat splitter cable, car charger, car mounting kit, 2GB
memory card with pre-loaded software and desktop software CD and manual.
Certainly a very nice bundle that includes everything you could possibly
need.

Other than the optional desktop software, this
package does include a 2GB mini SD card with pre-loaded software for an easy
install on your mobile device. It ships with all adapters to support
all modern devices. This includes those older devices with SD or Micro SD
slots. Regardless of which device you have, they've got you covered.
Is 2GB enough though? More on that in the next section!

While I now personally prefer the MTK chipset,
the new SIRFstarIII receiver bundled with CoPilot Live 7 is a major
improvement over their previously bundled models. To your left above
is a pic showing the CoPilot Live 6 receiver next to their latest bundled
with this product. While slightly thicker, it is much smaller and its
entire outer shell has a rubberized feel that is so pleasant to the touch,
you won't want to put it down. It will also stay in place on your dash
much better than their previous model. It terms of other design
changes, the new receiver now has a standard mini USB plug for more
convenient charging and the status LED's are now appropriately locate on the
front end of the receiver.
